Hello, I’m Sophie
I’m a project manager, a parent, and an expatriate living in Zurich, Switzerland.
Some years back I moved here with my family. What began as a short-term assignment gradually became a new chapter of life abroad.
How It Began
Moving to Switzerland wasn't part of the long-term plan. Like many expat relocations, it started as a work opportunity and soon grew into something far more significant.
The early months were demanding — unfamiliar systems, new routines, higher expectations. Everyday tasks seemed trickier than they needed to be.
The Adjustment Phase
There was culture shock, doubt, and plenty of hands-on learning. Over time, routines settled in. We found spots that fit us, connected with other families, and began crafting something that felt steady.
Why I Created Silver Field Atlas
Much of the online guidance was either corporate relocation tips or shallow travel content. What stood missing was a frank, everyday family viewpoint.
This site aims to fill that void — practical advice drawn from real-life experiences in Switzerland.
What This Site Does (And Does Not)
This site is:
- Hands-on insights from living in Switzerland
- Centered on family life and daily realities
- Updated whenever there is a real change
This site isn't:
- An official tourism authority resource
- A platform for sponsored reviews
- Just another generic travel blog
Moving Forward
Our time in Switzerland continues, and so does the learning journey. As long as the information remains useful, I’ll keep documenting what we discover.
If you have questions about family life in Zurich or anywhere in Switzerland, don’t hesitate to get in touch.
Best regards,
Sophie
